Hranicka and Yurchak earn CAA Pre-Season Honors

NEWARK, Del. - The University of Delaware women's lacrosse team was picked to finish fourth in the CAA Preseason Poll, the league announced Wednesday. The poll is voted on by the league's head coaches.Â
Fifth-year defender Madison Hranicka was named to the All-CAA team. Hranicka also looks to defend her CAA Defensive Player of the Year award from 2023. The Hens captain led the CAA in caused turnovers last season, while finishing fourth in the country with 50. Hranicka would also lead the CAA and finish third in NCAA with 3.12 caused turnovers per game.Â
Midfielder Lizzie Yurchak also received recognition, earning honorable mention for the All-Conference team. Yurchak is coming off of a strong 2023 season, in which she started 14 of 16 games, scored 27 goals, recorded nine assists, 19 ground balls, 15 caused turnovers, and 49 draw controls. Her play earned her 2023 All-CAA Second Team honors as a junior.
The Blue Hens look to build off of their successful 2023 campaign, in which they finished 4-3 in conference play, earning an appearance in the CAA Tournament.
