Khokhlova Defends Title; Women’s Golf Wins Lady Blue Hen Invitational

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Alisa Khokhlova defended her individual title, and the University of Delaware women's golf team had four players in the top 20 to claim its first team win of the season with a first-place finish at its own Lady Blue Hen Invitational. Delaware carded a three-round score of 17-over par 881 to finish one stroke ahead of Quinnipiac. The 10-team Lady Blue Hen Invitational was played at the par-72, 6,169-yard Rehoboth Beach Country Club.
It is the first time that Delaware has won the Lady Blue Hen Invitational since the inaugural event in 2013, and it is the third time a Blue Hen has won their home tournament (Khokhlova, 2023; Ashley Dingman, 2017). Khokhlova won the tournament for the second-straight year to be become the second two-time winner in the 11th rendition of the tournament, joining Princeton's Tiffany Kong (2018, 2021). She becomes the third Blue Hen all-time (Andi Slane, Oihana Etxezarreta) to win multiple tournaments in her career.

The Blue Hens wrapped up the fall portion of their schedule with their third top-five finish in five tournaments. Delaware will break until the spring semester when it will gear up to defend its CAA Championship from a season ago.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Khokhklova fired a 5-under par 211, turning in the fifth-best 54-hole score in program history to tie her performance at the Pinetree Collegiate in the spring of 2023.
- Khokhlova had 12 birdies over 54 holes including seven in Saturday's second round when she carded a career-low 6-under par 66. It is tied for the third-lowest round in Delaware history.
- Malosh drained 10 birdies and Dunigan added five as they both tied for 15th overall.
- Henkel was also in the top 20 as she carded eight birdies over the three rounds.
- The Blue Hens totaled 40 birdies as a team, including 18 during Saturday's second round when they turned in a team score of 3-under par 285.
