RICHMOND Va. - University of Delaware volleyball's Lily Rogers was named Co-CAA Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after leading Delaware to two straight-set victories over Northeastern, her first CAA weekly honor of her career.
Rogers led the CAA in assists per set for the week with 11.67, tallying a total of 70 in six sets. Rogers also had five kills. She had 34 assists on Saturday and 36 on Sunday. Rogers orchestrated a Delaware offense that hit .325 for the weekend, second best in the conference during the week. Rogers was also at the service line when Delaware went on a 10-0 run during the third set on Saturday.Â
Rogers leads the conference in assists per set at 10.25, and is 35th nationally. She has been even better as of late, as she has averaged 11.12 assists per set over Delaware's last nine matches. She also has had multiple kills in six of her last seven matches, and is hitting .283 over that span.
After having played multiple positions in her first four seasons, Rogers has cemented herself as the Blue Hens' setter in her final year. She recently picked up her 1,000th career assist on Sept. 15, and she already has 646 for the season. Her career resume expands past just this season however, as she was an All-Rookie and All-Conference selection during the spring 2021 season. Rogers is also one of four players in program history to record a triple double, doing so on Oct. 2, 2022 against Charleston.
Delaware's weekend sweep of Northeastern provided a huge lift for the Blue Hens in the conference standings, improving their CAA record to 7-3 and in third place. The Blue Hens will play first-place Hofstra this weekend on the road.Â
