RICHMOND, Va. - University of Delaware volleyball's Kirah Johnson was named CAA Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after helping Delaware to a weekend sweep of Hofstra and pulling UD into a tie for first place in the CAA. This is Johnson's second CAA Weekly Honor of her career, and first since Oct. 16, 2023 when she was also named Defensive Player of the Week.
Johnson had 13 blocks in two five-set victories against The Pride, including nine on Wednesday. She was instrumental in orchestrating UD's reverse-sweep comeback win on Saturday, helping hold Hofstra to a hitting percentage of .139 in the final three sets. She followed that up with four blocks on Sunday, including two solo blocks.Â
Johnson was also a contributor offensively, finishing with a career-high 20 kills on Saturday and a team-high tying 15 on Sunday - the first time in her career she had back-to-back matches with at least 15 kills.
