Women’s Golf Adds Rhianna Gooneratne on National Signing Day

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware women's golf team welcomed in the newest member of its program on Thursday with the addition of Rhianna Gooneratne who signed with the program as part of National Signing Day. Gooneratne will join the Blue Hens next fall as a member of the Delaware Class of 2029.

Plymouth Meeting, Pa. / Plymouth Whitemarsh High School
Bio: Was a four-year starter and two-time captain at Plymouth Whitemarsh … Won the 2023 PIAA AAA state championship and was runner-up in 2024 … Was the 2023 UHY Baltimore Junior Champion … Held her high school's lowest scoring average over nine holes all four years … Tied the school's lowest nine-hole score (32) in a high school match … Also played basketball and lacrosse at Plymouth Whitemarsh, winning a basketball state championship … In the classroom, was a member of the National Honor Society.
The Blue Hens wrapped up the fall portion of their schedule with a team title at the Lady Blue Invitational, their third top-five finish in five tournaments. Delaware will return to action in the spring when it gears up to defend its CAA Championship from a season ago.
