NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware track & field team is gearing up for an exhilarating 2024-25 season as head coach Josh Hayman unveils a dynamic lineup of competitions. The Blue Hens will compete in nine indoor meets and 11 outdoor events, highlighted by the highly anticipated Delaware Invitational. The season is set to begin in just two weeks on Friday, Dec. 6.
Indoor Season
The indoor season begins with the Penn Opener on Dec. 6, hosted by UPenn, followed by two trips to New York City in January for the NYC Gotham Cup (Jan. 17) and the Dr. Sander Invitational (Jan. 24-25).
The Blue Hens then head to the Penn State National Open (Jan. 31-Feb. 1) before returning to Staten Island for the Fastrack National Invite on Feb. 7. The regular season concludes at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston (Feb. 14-15).
The postseason kicks off with the CAA Indoor Championships in Virginia Beach (Feb. 26-27), providing athletes a unique preview of the world-class track at the Virginia Beach Sports Center, which will also host the NCAA Indoor Championships (March 13-15). Delaware will look to capitalize on this invaluable opportunity to familiarize itself with the venue ahead of the national competition.
The Blue Hens also look forward to competing at the ECAC Indoor Championships in Boston (March 7-9) as they strive to make their mark in a highly competitive field.
Outdoor Season
Delaware transitions to the outdoor season on March 21 at the Fred Hardy Invitational in Richmond, Va., followed by the Raleigh Relays (March 27-29) and the Delaware Invitational (April 4-5) on home turf.
Other key meets include the Bucknell Outdoor Classic (April 11-13), the Virginia Challenge (April 18-19), and the prestigious Penn Relays (April 24-26). The Blue Hens close out the regular season with the Carol & John Covert Classic at Lehigh (April 26) and the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton (May 2-3).
The quest for a third CAA Outdoor Championship title takes the Blue Hens to Greensboro, N.C., on May 14-15, where North Carolina A&T will host the two-day event. Last year, Delaware earned four bronze medals and a ninth-place finish, led by a standout performance from All-CAA honoree Kadence Dumas.
The team aims to extend its streak of qualifying at least two athletes for the NCAA East Regionals, which this year will be hosted by the University of North Florida (May 28-31). The season concludes with the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., at the University of Oregon's historic Hayward Field (June 11-14).
