NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware field hockey used a two-goal fourth quarter Sunday to defeat Fairfield 2-0 on Senior Day. The Blue Hens advance to 9-9 overall to conclude the regular season, while the Stags drop to 10-8.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Iris Bekker and Valentina Martorell each recorded a score.
Rachael Whitehead and Noelle Sabbagh finished with an assist each.
Cecile van Eijck (9-9) tallied her fifth shutout of the season with two saves.
UD held the Stags scoreless on four penalty corners.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Fairfield had an opportunity three minutes into the final period with a penalty stroke but shot wide.
Delaware capitalized off a corner during the 50^th minute. Good passing led to a Bekker goal off a pass from Whitehead.
About nine minutes later, Martorell took a feed from Sabbagh to double the lead.

UP NEXT
Delaware will be the third seed in the CAA Tournament and take on second-seeded Northeastern on Friday at 3 p.m. at Drexel University.
