Volleyball Has Four Named To CSC Academic All-District Team

NEWARK, Del. - University of Delaware volleyball's Kirah Johnson, Cadence Nguyen, Lily Rogers, and Savannah Seemans were all named to the CSC Academic All-District Team, announced by the organization on Tuesday, Dec. 17. Johnson and Rogers were selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced January 14, 2025. Voting begins December 17 and closes December 31.Â
To be considered for inclusion on the Academic All-District and Academic All-America Women's Volleyball Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, and must have competed in at least 90 percent of the institution's contests or started in at least 66 percent of those contests.
Johnson, a communication major, finished her career with a big senior season that saw her be named CAA All-Conference First-Team, CAA All-Tournament, and ECAC Second-Team. For the season, Johnson hit .331 with 2.98 kills per set and 1.15 blocks per set. She finished her career ranked fourth in program history in total blocks at 431. Â
Nguyen, a global enterprise management major, had a solid junior season in her first year starting at libero. After playing in just 15 sets in her first two seasons, Nguyen played in all 101 sets this season and averaged 3.62 digs per set with 22 aces.Â
Rogers, a biological sciences major, was named CAA Setter of the Year, CAA All-Conference First-Team, CAA All-Tournament, and ECAC Second-Team in her final season. She averaged 10.37 assists per set with 37 aces. Rogers became the fourth Delaware player ever to be named CAA Setter of the Year.Â
Seemans, a business administration major, was named to the CSCÂ Academic All-District Team for the second time. She wrapped her five-year career by averaging 2.23 kills per set, 0.44 aces per set, 3.12 digs per set, and 0.42 blocks per set. During her five years, Seemans played in every set of her collegiate career.Â
Delaware finished the season with a .741 winning percentage, the sixth best in program history. It is the fourth time Delaware recorded at least a .700 winning percentage in back-to-back seasons in program history (also done from 2009-2010, 2006-2007, and 1976-1977). The Blue Hens made the CAA Tournament Championship Match for three-straight seasons ,the ninth team in CAA history to go to at least three consecutive CAA Championship Matches. The Blue Hens won at least 20 games in a season for the second-straight year. It's the first time Delaware has won at least 20 matches in two-straight years since doing so in three straight seasons from 2009-2011. Â
