Men's Lacrosse Holds Steady in the Nation's Top-20 Rankings

NEWARK, Del. – After the first full week of action in the collegiate men's lacrosse landscape, the University of Delaware men's lacrosse team remained at No. 16 in the Inside Lacrosse media poll, while moving up to No. 15 in the USILA poll, both outlets announced Monday afternoon.
The Blue & Gold opened the 2024 campaign with a 14-6 win over Lafayette on Saturday afternoon. It marked the third year in a row the Hens opened their season with a win.
The Hens offense came out firing on all cylinders as Mike Robinson led the way with a team-high seven goals on 10 shots on frame. Cam Acchione tallied two goals while JP Ward finished with two goals and three assists. Nick Jessen tied his career-high in assists with three and sophomore transfer Hank D'Ambrogi added two to his ledger.
Delaware's defense shined in the season-opening win as senior Kevin Ellington made his first career start and held the Leopards off the board for the first 43:15 of the contest. He finished with 13 saves and a .684 save percentage. The Hens caused 11 turnovers on the day and the defense limited Lafayette to 36 shots and only 19 on frame.
The Blue & Gold garnered 132 points in the USILA poll, ahead of Richmond and just behind Penn State while also receiving 99 points in the Inside Lacrosse media poll, ahead of Richmond and just behind BU.
