Late Comeback Falls Short in Baseball’s Loss to Lehigh

NEWARK, Del. – Seven runs over the final two innings weren't enough for the University of Delaware baseball team in a 10-9 setback to Lehigh Tuesday afternoon.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Aidan Kane recorded a 2-for-3 outing with three runs, a homer, an RBI, and a walk.
Andrew Amato finished the day 2-for-5 with a dinger, three RBIs, and a double.
Josearmando Diaz also hit a home run as he finished 1-for-1 with three RBIs and a walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The visitors plated two in the opening frame on a trio of hits and pair of walks to take a 2-0 lead.
Delaware cut it in half as Jake Dunion touched home on an error by the shortstop in the bottom of the second.
A moonshot by Rafe Perich to left center doubled the Mountain Hawks' lead to 3-1 in the third.
Four hits and one error led to a four-run inning for Lehigh to push the gap to 7-1 in the fourth.
Kane launched a solo shot to left center for his third of the season in the bottom of the fifth.
In the sixth, the visitors added another pair for a 9-2 margin.
The Blue & Gold recorded back-to-back homers in the bottom of the eighth off the bats of Diaz and Amato to make it a 9-5 game.
The Mountain Hawks added an insurance run in the ninth which proved to be the difference.
Four runs scored in the home half of the ninth, but the game tying and game winning runs would be stranded.

Delaware opens the weekend series against Lafayette at home on Friday at 4 p.m.
