Women's Basketball Hosts William & Mary On Friday And Heads To Monmouth Sunday

NEWARK, Del. | WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The University of Delaware women's basketball team returns to the First State Friday evening and will play hosts to William & Mary for its final regular-season meeting inside Bob Carpenter Center. Tipoff on Friday is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live simultaneously on FloHoops and Delmarva Sports Network.

vs. William & Mary
- Looking to go .500 in CAA action, Delaware is 8-13 on the year with a 4-5 mark in league play heading into Friday's battle.
- The Blue Hens bounced back into the winning column last Sunday, Feb. 4 at Hofstra.
- Delaware captured the dominating 82-59 road win over the Pride, extending its winning streak against Hofstra to 17 games.
- The Blue & Gold was led by five double-digit scorers headlined by freshman Ande'a Cherisier's 17 points and seven rebounds.
- Behind Cherisier was Chloe Wilson, who finished the game with 13 points and four rebounds.
- Nakiyah Mays-Prince and Klarke Sconiers both poured in 12 points while Tara Cousins chipped in with 10 points off the bench.
- As a unit, the Blue Hens shot 50 percent (30-60) from the field and the last time they were able to do that was earlier this season against FGCU (.551, 27-49, Nov. 24).
- This is the first game since the season opener against Longwood (Nov. 9) that the Blue Hens had five players score in double figures.
- Also against Longwood, this is Delaware's largest margin of victory, 23 points, since facing the Lancers (26 points, Nov. 9)

- Wilson ranks third in free throw attempts (107), fourth in free throws made (80) and 12th in free throw percentage (74.8).
- Sconiers ranks fifth in blocks (25), seventh in blocks per game (1.19) and 10th in free throw percentage (77.1).
- Sydney Boone sits in sixth in steals per game (1.76) while Cousins ranks ninth in three-point percentage (33.1) and three pointers per game (2.00).
- The Blue Hens had a tough going Friday night, Feb. 9, against William & Mary at home.
- Delaware fell 62-58 to the visiting Tribe and was paced by Tara Cousins' nine points and Chloe Wilson's game-high 12 rebounds.
- William & Mary completed the regular-season sweep against the Blue Hens.
- William & Mary enters Friday's matchup 10-10 on the year and 6-3 in conference play.
- The last time out for the Tribe was against Drexel last Sunday afternoon in Williamsburg.
- W&M captured the 75-62 home victory over the Dragons thanks to shooting 52 percent from the field to put up the most points Drexel has surrendered in conference play.
- Nylah Young paced the Tribe with a game-high 27 points to go with seven rebounds coming off the bench.
- Bella Nascimento followed behind Young with 13 points, four assists and three steals while Cassidy Geddes added 11 points.
- In nine CAA games played, William & Mary's six conference wins include the defending champions Monmouth, Hofstra, Elon, Delaware, Hofstra and Drexel but suffered losses at the hands of North Carolina A&T, Towson and Monmouth.
- Monmouth enters the weekend sporting a 13-7 record and a 6-3 mark in league play prepared to play at Northeastern on Friday before heading back home to host the Blue Hens on Sunday.
- On Friday, the Hawks defense helped extend its road streak at Northeastern by securing the 50-41 victory.
- Jania Hall and Bella Kranbuhl (nine rebounds) paced the Hawks by scoring 11 and 10 points, respectively.
- In nine CAA games played, Monmouth captured victories over Campbell, Charleston, Drexel, Hampton, William & Mary and Towson while suffering losses against William & Mary, Elon and Stony Brook.
- According to the 2023-24 CAA Preseason Coaches Poll, Monmouth was selected to finish sixth in the conference with Ariana Vanderhoop earning a spot on the preseason honorable mention.
vs. William & Mary
- This will be the 44th meeting between the two programs with Delaware holding the 32-11 record, 29-10 in conference play, and 14-4 in Newark.
- The Blue Hens have won the last three home meetings along with winning seven of the last 10 matchups against the Tribe.
- This will be the third time head coaches Sarah Jenkins and Erin Dickerson Davis will be meeting since taking over their respective programs.
- Friday's matchup will close out the regular-season meetings between the two.
- The Blue Hens will look to split the regular season series with the Tribe on Friday.
- The last time out was on Jan. 19, 2024, when Delaware stayed in the game through its entirety but dropped a heartbreaking 78-72 overtime setback to the Tribe inside Kaplan Arena.
- Cousins paced Delaware with 19 points and two steals while Wilson added 13 points and four rebounds.
- Cherisier had 12 points and four rebounds while Mays-Prince led the Blue Hens in assists with four and added nine points.
- Geddes paced William & Mary with 20 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Anahi-Lee Cauley followed with 17 points and six rebounds.
- Young (11 points) and Alexa Mikeska (10 points) both pulled down 10 rebounds each.
- This will be the 10th time in program history and the second time in conference action that Delaware and Monmouth will duke it out against one another.
- The Blue Hens hold a 7-2 record highlighted by an undefeated mark away from Newark. The last time Delaware and Monmouth met in Jersey was during the 2012-13 season where the Blue Hens walked away with the 82-53 road win behind UD Alum Elena Delle Donne's near double-double performance (30 points, nine rebounds) on Dec. 23, 2012.
- Delaware saw its seven-game winning streak over the Hawks get snapped last season, Jan. 1, 2023, where Monmouth spoiled the New Year by capturing the 80-60 road win. Sconiers finished with 14 points, six rebounds and five blocks while Mia Yanogacio chipped in 10 points off the bench.
- This will be head coaches Jenkins and Ginny Boggess second time facing one another since taking over their respective programs.
