Men’s Golf Ties for Fifth at The Surf Club Invitational

Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The University of Delaware men's golf team finished in a tie for fifth place at The Surf Club Invitational, hosted by Appalachian State. Playing three rounds in two days at The Surf Golf and Beach Club (Par 71 / 6,696 yards), the Blue Hens turned in scores of 282-285-285 to finish at even par for the tournament and tie for fifth in the 18-team field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Delaware was 2-under par and tied for third place after the first round before turning in team cards of 1-over par in each of the next two rounds. The Blue Hens totaled 54 birdies and Halleron had an eagle in Monday's second round.
- Areephun sat at 1-over par after the first two rounds but turned in a bogey-free card of 5-under par 66 in Tuesday's final round to climb 15 spots in the individual rankings to finish in a tie for eighth. It was his third top-10 finish of the season.
- Playing as an individual, Halleron recorded nine birdies for the tournament and eagled the par-5 first hole in the second round to earn his best finish to par on the season.
- Homer, playing in just his third collegiate tournament, turned in consecutive rounds of 1-under par on Monday and finished with his best career finish to par.
- Nerpin carded five birdies in Monday's second round and turned in a 2-under par.
