Women's Lacrosse Holds on Against Georgetown, Defeating the Hoyas 13-11 in the District of Columbia

WASHINGTON, D.C.- The University of Delaware women's lacrosse team held on to a strong first quarter and a two-goal fourth quarter from Jaclyn Marszal to defeat Georgetown on the road, 13-11. The Blue Hens move to 5-1 on the season. The win now gives the Hens a winning percentage over .500 at home and on the road.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Marszal had her second hat trick this season, while recording two assists to give her five points.
- Lizzie Hsu had another multi-score game with two goals, her third of the season.
- Steph Marszal had 11 saves, her third time this season with double digit saves.
- Besides Marszal and Hsu, six other Hens scored at least one goal, including Lizzie Yurchak, Sam Paradise, Riley Gillin, Delaney McDaniel (2), Callie Drab (2), and Keira Grant.
- Madison Hranicka had five ground balls and three caused turnovers.
- Yurchak lead the Hens with four draw controls with four.
- Gillin and McDaniel tied for most assists with three.
- The Hens had eight players tally at least one point.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Hens outscored the Hoyas 4-2 in the first quarter, scoring three unanswered goals after the Hoyas scored the first goal of the game.
- Both the Hens and Hoyas would trade off goals in the second quarter; finishing with three each as Hens held onto 7-5 lead at halftime.
- A Keira Grant goal with just over a minute left in the third quarter gave the Hens a bit of breathing room going into the fourth quarter up 10-7.
- Jaclyn Marszal third goal of the afternoon gave the Hens a 13-9 advantage with seven minutes remaining, and they would hold on from one final offensive push by the Hoyas, earning the road win, 13-11.
GAME NOTES
- Gillin's four points against the Hoyas makes it six games in a row in which she has recorded at least three points.
- The win snaps a six-game losing streak against Georgetown and is the first time the Hens defeated the Hoyas in D.C. since 2016.
- Four of Marszal's five points came in the second half (two assists in the third quarter).
