NEWARK, Del. – On Saturday, April 13, senior JP Ward became only the third Delaware men's lacrosse player to score 100 career-goals and tally 100-career assists as the Blue Hens defeated Stony Brook 16-12 to remain a perfect 5-0 in CAA action.
Ward, an Owings Mills, Md, native has had a stellar career thus far for the Blue & Gold. After only making two starts in 11 games for the Hens during his freshman campaign, Ward became a mainstay at attack in the Delaware offense. Ward has made 47 consecutive starts dating back to 2022 and has recorded at least one point in all 47 of those contests.
The senior finished his sophomore season with 40 goals and 32 assists. He followed this up with a 42-goal, 43-assist season in 2023. This year, the attackman leads the Hens with 45 points on 20 goals and a team-leading 25 assists to give him 104 goals and 104 assists for his career thus far.
"It means a lot to me to be able to join some great players that have come before me," said Ward of his accomplishment. "I wouldn't have been able to achieve it without my teammates, coaches, and support staff that I've had over the past 4 years. Go hens!"
Ward joins Rich Mills '77 and Delaware's all-time goal scoring leading Tye Kurtz '23 as the only three Blue Hens players to reach the 100-goals and assists plateau.
