RICHMOND, Va. – For the second year in a row, University of Delaware women's lacrosse's Madison Hranicka was voted the CAA Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-CAA, the league announced Wednesday. Steph Marszal joins Hranicka in post season accolades, landing on the CAA All-Rookie Team.
Hranicka was again one of the nation's most disruptive defenders in 2024, ranking third nationally in both caused turnovers per game (3.56) and ground balls per game (3.94). Her 57 caused turnovers in 2024 are good for second in a season in CAA history and most in a single season in school history, surpassing her mark of 50 last season. Her 140 in her Blue Hens career rank fourth in league history and most at UD. Hranicka's 11 caused turnovers vs. Lafayette this season are a CAA single-game record.
The Mendham, New Jersey native also set the school's modern era ground balls record with 153 over the course of her career.
Marszal shined in her inaugural season in cage for the Blue & Gold. The redshirt-freshman made 13 appearances with 11 starts. She boasts 93 saves and the eighth-best save percentage in the nation at .489.
