Baseball Dropped CAA Tournament Game Against UNCW

WILMINGTON, N.C. - The University of Delaware baseball team dropped a game in the Coastal Athletic Association tournament against UNCW by a score of 10-6 on Thursday.
With the loss, the Blue Hens overall record is 30-25. They will play the winner of William & Mary and Hofstra at 3 p.m.Â

Offensively, Aaron Graeber (2-for-4, HR, RBI). Chris Dengler (2-for-3, 2B, BB) and Tyler Leach (2-for-4, RBI) had multiple hits.Â

Starting on the mound was Dom Velazquez. He pitched 2.2 innings, allowed two runs off six hits, and struck out five batters. In relief was Carter Welch, Anthony Gubitosi, Tyler Strechay, Wyatt Nelson, Elias Conway and Tyler August. Gubitosi was credited with the decision.Â

The Seahawks opened the game with a two-run home run to take an early 2-0 lead

The Blue Hens offense took off with a four run inning in the top of the fourth. Aaron Graeber got a rally started with a solo home run. It was the teams 100th home run of the season. Tyler Leach added a run off a single to tie the game, scoring Chris Dengler. The rally finished with a two-run home run from Aidan Kane.Â

UD added a run in the top of the fifth inning with an RBI from Dengler, scoring Joey Loynd.Â

The Seahawks scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings.

UD mounted a comeback, starting with a solo home run from Eric Ludman in the top of the seventh inning but the rally came up short.Â
