Baseball Dropped Double Header Against Monmouth

NEWARK, Del. - The University of Delaware baseball team dropped both games of a double header against Monmouth on Friday at Bob Hannah Stadium.

The Hawks defeated the Blue Hens 9-7 in game one and 2-1 in game two.

With the results, the Blue Hens overall record is 24-21 overall and 11-9 in Coastal Athletic Association play.Â

GAME ONE
- In game one, Bryce Greenly led the Blue Hens offensively, going 4-for-5 with a solo home run. Aaron Graeber was the other lone Blue Hen with multiple hits going 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI's
- Doug Marose started the game on the mound, going 4.2 innings, allowing two unearned runs off six hits, and struck out two batters. Eli Atiya pitched the next 2.1 innings, allowing four runs (two earned) off six hits and struck out one batter. Tyler August pitched the final 2 innings, allowed three runs (one earned) off four hits, walked two and struck out one.
- UD got out to a 4-0 lead through the first three innings. Joey Loynd hit a sacrifice fly, followed by a two run home run from Graeber, and Aiden Stewart hit a single to left field.Â
- The Hawks eventually tied the game at 4-4, however, Graeber drove in two more runs off a single to left field to retake the lead 6-4.Â
- Despite a Greenly home run in the bottom of the eighth, the Hawks put up five runs over the last three innings to take the game one win.
GAME TWO
- Loynd was the lone Blue Hen with multiple hits, going 2-for-4.Â
- Ethan Shaub pitched five innings, allowed no earned runs, three hits and struck out four batters. Anthony Gubitosi pitched in relief, allowed two earned runs off five hits, walked two batters and struck out four.Â
- The Blue Hens lone run came in the third inning when Graeber brought in Eric Ludman off an RBI single.
- Monmouth brought in two runs in the top of the ninth to take a 2-1 lead and pulled away.Â
