NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware men's basketball has signed DII All-American and Jefferson University transfer Erik Timko, head coach Martin Ingelsby announced Friday. Timko joins the Blue & Gold for his final year of eligibility.
"We are thrilled to announce the signing of Erik Timko," Ingelsby said. "Erik is an elite guard prospect who can really stretch the floor and is a perfect fit for our style of play. He comes from a winning program at Jefferson University where he was an elite scorer and shooter. We look forward to getting him here this summer and acclimated to our program and Blue Hen culture."
The 6-5 guard has started 84 of 85 of his collegiate games to account for 1,792 points over his first three years for the Rams in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). He finished ninth in NCAA Division II in total three pointers and three-point percentage. His 22.5 points per game checked in at 11th in the nation. His season led to his first CACC Player of the Year honor and landed him NABC East All-District First Team and D2CCA All-East Region First Team.
The 2021-22 CACC Rookie of the Year, Timko averaged 21.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per contest. The sharpshooter connected on 53.2 percent of his shots, including 40.8 percent from long range. He also went 91-percent from the line, only missing 12 free throws in 133 attempts.
Prior to arriving at Jefferson, he played basketball and baseball at Methacton High School in Eagleville, Pennsylvania. Timko was a two-time All-Conference First Team selection in high school, also earning First Team All-Area and All-Area Player of the Year honors. He also was tabbed a Second Team All-State honoree his senior season.
