Women’s Golf has a Trio Named WGCA All-American Scholars

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware women's golf program had a trio of student-athletes named to the 2023-24 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team, as announced by the WGCA. Oihana Etxezarreta and Lilia Henkel both earned their third selection while Marissa Malosh earned her first nod.
Etxezarreta wrapped up her strong UD career with her third All-American Scholar selection. The San Sebastian, Spain native appeared in nine tournaments as a senior, averaging 78.31 strokes per round. She carded a season-best 67 in the first round of the Lady Blue Hen Invitational and finished second overall in the field.
Henkel earned her third All-American Scholar in three seasons as a Blue Hen. The Grand Rapids, Michigan native had a 77.53 stroke average while competing in all 11 tournaments. She earned her first collegiate win by claiming medalist honors at the 2024 CAA Championships, sinking a long birdie putt on the final hole to clinch Delaware's team victory before winning the individual title in a playoff.
Malosh had a strong start to her collegiate career, earning All-American Scholar honors while ranking third on the team with a 76.07 stroke average. The South Fayette, Pennsylvania native tied for second on the Blue Hens with three top-10 finishes, highlighted by a fourth-place finish at the Ironwood Invitational.
Delaware won its third CAA Championship in program history and advanced to the NCAA Championships for the third time. The Blue Hens finished sixth or better as a team in eight of their 11 tournaments during the 2023-24 season. Director of Golf Patty Post was named the CAA Coach of the Year for the third time while Alisa Khokhlova earned an All-CAA First Team selection and Christina Carroll was given a nod to the second team.
