Binn, Burns Selected as Captains for 2024 Women's Soccer Season

NEWARK, Del. -Â The University of Delaware women's soccer program announces Kyla Burns and Carly Binn as captains for the 2024 season.
The two played significant roles last season and look to lead the way for the Blue Hens.
Binn, a senior from Middletown, N.J. appeared in 18 games and made 16 starts. She played in 1366 minutes in 2023, including 11 games in which she played a full 90 minutes. The defender played a role in the Blue Hens defense that allowed 0.72 goals per game, which ranks second in the CAA and 41st in the NCAA. The defense had six shutouts, and only allowed multiple goals once.

Burns, a graduate student from Ruby, N.Y. led the country in save percentage at .911. She appeared in 14 games, including 11 starts, totaling 981 minutes. She had 51 saves, allowed five goals, leading to a 0.46 goals against average. Her goals allowed and goals against average ranked as the best in the CAA.

The Blue Hens kick off the season on the road against West Virginia on Thursday, Aug. 15 at 6 p.m.
