Women’s Lacrosse Welcomes Sam Pratt as New Associate Head Coach

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware women's lacrosse program added Sam Pratt to the coaching staff as associate head coach, head coach Amy Altig announced Friday.
"Sam is a great addition to our program and we look forward to her taking the reins of our offensive unit," Altig said. "She brings a great deal of experience with her from her successful time at Mount St. Mary's. Her energy, passion for the game, and pursuit of excellence make her an amazing fit for our Blue Hen Family. We are so excited for Sam to get started and look forward to a successful future for the Hens!"
Pratt joins the Hens after six seasons with Mount St. Mary's where she led the team to three NEC Regular Season Championships and two NCAA Championship appearances.
"I'm very excited to join the Delaware family and coach alongside both Amy and Kara," Pratt said. "I am extremely grateful to Amy Altig and Jake Schrum for giving me this opportunity to be able to come in and make an impact right away. This is an incredible opportunity to contribute to a program with such a strong foundation. I'm eager to bring my experience and passion for the game to this program. I cannot wait to create everlasting relationships with all the Blue Hens and develop these young women both on and off the field. I am confident we can take Delaware to new heights!"
Over her tenure with The Mount, Pratt coached 29 student-athletes to all-league honors between the Northeast Conference (NEC) and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). The team posted a 63-35 record and sported a pair of NEC Offensive Players of the Year, an NEC Midfielder of the Year, and a NEC Rookie of the Year.
Her offense in 2019 ranked 20th nationally in scoring with 14.11 goals per game. Two years later, the team finished 14th in the country with 15.06 goals per game.
Prior to joining the staff at Mount St. Mary's Pratt spent a season at La Salle where she served as offensive coordinator.
A two-year team captain at UMBC, she registered 117 goals, 73 assists and 190 points during her time with the Retrievers. The Fallston, Maryland native finished her career as the program's all-time leader in assists, and ranked third in career points. She was named First Team All-America East in her final two seasons.
Pratt holds a pair of bachelor's degrees from UMBC in sociology (2016) and media and communication (2017). She later went on to earn her master's degree in sport management from Mount St. Mary's in 2019.
Not only did Pratt obtain two bachelor's degrees from UMBC, but she also met her now-husband– UMBC men's soccer player, Joe Pratt. The two were married in 2022 and now are the proud parents of two labrador retrievers; Finley & Champion.
