Softball Earns Eight Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Julia Boyet, Maddie Fife. Julz Garber, Morgan Hess, Katie Scheivert, Lillie Scheivert, Anaya Troy, and Emily Winburn were all named to the Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2023-24 academic year.Â
Boyet transferred from Duke and spent the spring season with the Blue Hens. She also earned a CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll selection as a biological sciences major. She was a First-Team All-CAA honoree and Third-Team All-Region honoree and hit .340/.391/.522 with three home runs, eight doubles, and six triples while starting in all 53 games. Boyet was named to the CAA All-Tournament Team after hitting .333./333/.500 with a triple in 12 at bats. She was also an ACC Honor Roll selection in 2021, 2022, and 2023.Â
Fife also was with Delaware for her final season and majored in strategic communication. She was also a Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll selection in both her semesters. Fife appeared in 50 games in 2024 and hit .246/.318/.395 with four home runs. She was named to the CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll in both semesters, and was a CSC Academic All-District selection. Â
Garber wrapped up a brilliant career this past season. On top of being named a Scholar-Athlete, she was a CSC Academic All-District Team selection and two-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll selection for the academic year. During her four-years, she was also a 2023 CSC Academic All-District Team selection, 2021 and 2023 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete, and eight-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll as a finance major with a minor in business analytics. Garber became the first outfielder to ever win CAA Defensive Player of the Year, started in all 53 games, and hit 343/.396/.420. She was named Second-Team All-CAA and Third-Team All-Region - the first outfielder in program history to earn two consecutive All-Region honors.Â
In her first season after transferring from Presbyterian, Hess, a criminal justice major, also earned CSC Academic All-District honors for the second straight year and two CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll nods.. Hess was named First-Team All-Region and First-Team All-Conference after hitting 300/.327/.521 with 14 doubles, five home runs, and 24 RBIs and going 14-6 with a save in the circle with a 2.33 ERA, six complete games, and two shutouts.Â
Katie Scheivert, a sport management major, also earned a CSC Academic All-District honor in addition to being an All-America Scholar-Athlete. She is also a four-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll selection. This past season, she hit .305/.368/.377 with 24 RBIs, 31 runs scored, and went 12-for-13 in stolen bases
Lillie Scheivert, a communication major, completed her first season as Scholar-Athlete and added two CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll selections. She appeared in 35 games and started in 24, hitting a home run with RBIs. She did not commit an error in 25 chances in the outfield.
Troy was a sport management major and a four-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. She appeared in 38 games and scored 10 runs.Â
Winburn was a strategic communications major and added another honor to her career. Winburn aso earned CSC Academic All-District selection, was a four-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll recipient, as well as a four-time All-Region and All-Conference selection, three-time CAA All-Tournament selection, and was the 2023 CAA Pitcher of the Year. Winburn pitched to a 1.52 ERA while going 22-7 with 20 complete games and seven shutouts. She set single-season program records for wins and saves, tied single-season program record for appearances, and became the first player in program history to earn All-Region honors four times, and the second ever to earn two First-Team honors. Winburn holds the career records for wins and saves, and received Delaware Most Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year honors in 2024. She will return to the Blue Hens as Director of Player Development next season.
