Men’s Golf Shoots Low in Second-Place Showing at Bryan National Collegiate

BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. – The University of Delaware men's golf team had a strong performance to open the 2024-25 season, placing second in the 10-team field at the Bryan National Collegiate, hosted by UNCG. The Blue Hens were 10-under par as a team over the final 36 holes to finish at 8-under par 856 for the tournament. Play was held at the par-72, 7,276-yard Bryan Park Champions Course.

- T5. Arsit Areephun – 71-70-70=211 (-5)
- T8. Egor Zubov – 71-70-72=213 (-3)
- T19. Matthew Homer – 75-71-72=218 (+2)
- T19. Ikk Iampongsai – 73-74-71=218 (+2)
- 21. Casper Nerpin – 76-70-73=219 (+3)
- Team – 290-281-285=856 (-8)
- T38. Jeffrey Homer (Ind.) – 75-74-76=225 (+9)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Hens totaled 55 birdies and two eagles over the three day, 72-hole tournament. Delaware carded 21 birdies as it went 7-under par during Monday's second round before recording 22 birdies on Tuesday.
- UD was fourth after the first round and third after the second. The Blue Hens took a brief lead midway through the final 18 holes before finishing two strokes behind the host Spartans.
- Areephun recorded three-straight rounds under par as he was in the top 10 throughout the entire tournament. He carded a team-high six birdies over the final 18 holes to claim a top-five finish.
- Zubov had four birdies on each of the first two days and added two more and an eagle on Tuesday. He was 4-under par on the 11th hole for the tournament, including Tuesday's eagle.
- Matthew Homer fired a 1-under par in Monday's second round and was at even-par 72 on Tuesday to finish in the top 20. He carded eight birdies for the tournament.
- Playing in his first collegiate tournament, Iampongsai, turned in eight birdies and an eagle, shooting a 1-under par 71 during Tuesday's final round.
- Nerpin recorded five birdies in each of his final two rounds, carding a 2-under par 70 on Monday.
UP NEXT
Delaware will be back in action on Monday, September 16 when the team travels back to North Carolina for the River Run Collegiate, hosted by Davidson. The two-day, three-round tournament will be at the River Run Country Club.
