Women’s Golf Captures Another Top-Five Finish at Nittany Lion Invitational

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The University of Delaware women's golf team turned in its second top-five performance in as many tournaments this season, finishing in a tie for fifth place in the 14-team field at the Nittany Lion Invitational, hosted by Penn State. The Blue Hens carded a three-round score of 896 (+32) at the par-72, 6,423-yard Penn State Blue Course.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Blue Hens carded a team score of 2-under par 286 during Saturday's first round to hold a three-stroke lead. They were in second place after Saturday's 36 holes before slipping to fifth on Sunday.
Hyunji Kim shot a 3-under par 69 to lead UD in the first round while Alisa Khokhlova and Mary Grace Dunigna both turned in even-par rounds.
Lilia Henkel carded a 2-under par 70 in the second round to climb of the standings, while Khokhlova and Kim led the Hens at 1-over par through 36 holes.
A 2-over par 74 on Sunday gave Henkel her second top-10 finish of the young season as she finished in a tie for seventh.

UP NEXT
The Blue Hens will continue their busy start to the season next weekend when they travel to the Mary Fossum Invitational, hosted by Michigan State. The two-day, three-round tournament will take place September 22-23 at Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing, Michigan.
