Stenner's Multi-Goal Game Leads to Men's Soccer Win Over Campbell

NEWARK, Del. - The University of Delaware men's soccer team picked up its first Coastal Athletic Association win over Campbell on Saturday at Grant Stadium.
With the win, the Blue Hens overall record improves to 5-3-1 overall and 1-2 in conference play
ON THE RECORD - "I'm really happy for the boys. We didn't expect to find ourselves in the same scenario as we did vs. Elon two weeks ago, but we showed that we'd learned and grown from that experience," head coach Tommy McMenemy said. "We played some electric football going forward, dug in defensively when we had to against a top team and managed the game well."
"This was the reaction we needed after our previous two results," freshman Jaydon Fuller said. "I'm very proud of the team and personally for a solid 90-minute performance."
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Marius Stenner got two goals in the first half, and assisted on one goal as well.
- Sam Donnellan was credited with two assists in the first half.
- Adam Vik had four saves on the day, and allowed one goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Fuller got the Blue Hens on the board with a goal in the 13th minute. He was assisted by Stenner and Donnellan.
- Stenner's goals were scored in the 17th and 39th minute of the first half. His first goal was assisted by Justin Ruth and Donnellan, and his second goal was assisted by Richard Monath.Â
GAME NOTES
- The Blue Hens picked up their first win in program history over Campbell, and the series went to 1-0-1 overall.Â
- Stenner recorded his second multi-goal game, and is up to six on the season. Earlier in the season, Stenner scored two goals against Howard back on Aug. 22.
- The Blue Hens defense allowed two goals over the last two games.

The Blue Hens travel to Newark, N.J. to take on NJIT on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.Â
