Football Squares Off with Jax State on Nationally-Televised Weekday CUSA Contest

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware football team will travel to Jacksonville, Alabama on Wednesday, October 15 at 7 p.m. for its first meeting with the Gamecocks since May 2, 2021 when they met in the FCS Quarterfinals. The game will air nationally on ESPN.
This will be the first time the Fightin' Blue Hens play on ESPN since May 8, 2021, in FCS Semifinals at South Dakota State and first in a non-COVID season since August 30, 2008, at No. 8 Maryland. The game also becomes the first Conference USA regular season game on ESPN since WKU-LA Tech on Oct. 5, 2023.

ABOUT THE HENS
- Delaware enters the contest 3-2, 1-1 CUSA, following a 27-24 home loss to WKU.
- QB Nick Minicucci leads the team with 1,372 yards and eight touchdown passes, while rushing for a team-best seven touchdowns, tied for the sixth-most nationally at the position. The signal caller also ranks second in CUSA with 274.4 passing yards per contest, trailing only WKU's Maverick McIvor (284.0).
- RB Jo Silver, a preseason Doak Walker Award Candidate, leads UD's rushing attack with 373 yards on the season to go with three rushing touchdowns. Silver averages 74.6 rushing yards per game, good for third-best in CUSA.
- WR Kyre Duplessis, who is second in CUSA in receiving yards per game (68.0) and is tied for 56th nationally, paces the Hens with 22 receptions, 340 yards, and two receiving touchdowns.
- LB Gavin Moul leads the Hens in tackles this season with 41, good for ninth-most in CUSA.
- The Blue & Gold are second in the conference in scoring offense, averaging 29.6 points per game. UD trails only WKU, which is putting up 33.7 points per contest.
- The Hens rank second in CUSA in total offense, putting up 424.4 yards per game, trailing only WKU, who paces the league with 429.5.
- UD tops the league in average kickoff return yards (26.8) and average punt return yards (20.3).
ABOUT THE GAMECOCKS
- Jax State is led by first-year head coach Charles Kelly, who owns a 3-3 career record at the helm of the Gamecocks.
- The Gamecocks enter the contest 3-3, 2-0 CUSA, coming off a 29-27 win over Sam Houston.
- Jax State's offense is led by Kentucky transfer QB Gavin Wimsatt, who has 576 yards and two touchdowns on the season. His 47.4 rushing yards per game rank ninth in Conference USA.
- The Gamecocks are led on the ground by CUSA's top rusher, RB Cam Cook, who has 832 yards and seven touchdowns on the campaign.
- WR Brock Rechsteiner is the team's leading receiver with 215 yards and three touchdowns.
- On defense, S Trevor Woods has 35 tackles on the campaign to lead the team.
