Men's Soccer Has Six Named CSC Academic All-District

GREENWOOD, IN. - Luke Chatten, Charles Giordano, Rich Monath, Jan Schroeder, Sean Smith, and Marius Stenner from the University of Delaware men's soccer team were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, the organization announced on Tuesday.Â

To be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District Team, a player must carry a 3.50 cumulative GPA and be at least a sophomore academically. Position players must also play in at least 90 percent of their team's games or start in at least two-thirds of them to qualify.
Chatten appeared in 16 games with 16 starts. He was named to the Second Team All-Summit League. The defender contributed to the team letting up the least amount of goals in a season as well as recording the most shutouts in a season in program history.Â
Giordano appeared in 17 games with 7 starts. He recorded four goals and four assists for 12 total points.Â
Monath recorded 12 goals and two assists for 26 points on 17 appearances and 16 starts. He was named the Summit League Midfielder of the Year. Monath lead the Summit League in goals, game-winning goals and was second in points. He also was named the Peak Offensive Performer of the Week this season.
Schroeder appeared in 16 games with 16 starts and tallied four assists. He was named First Team All-League. On defense, Schroder also contributed to the team letting up the least amount of goals in a season as well as recording the most shutouts in a season in program history. He also earned Peak Defensive Performer of the Week this season.Â
Smith made 16 appearances and 16 starts on the season. The defender also contributed to the team letting up the least amount of goals in a season as well as recording the most shutouts in a season in program history. Smith was named to the Summit League Championship All-Tournament team.
Stenner recorded 11 goals and nine assists for 31 points on 17 games and 16 starts this season. He was named to First Team All-Summit League and earned Peak Offensive Performer of the Week three times this season. Stenner lead the Summit League in shots, shots on goal, assists, and points.Â
