Men's Basketball's Fernandez and Bliss Earn CUSA Weekly Awards

DALLAS - Justyn Fernandez and Christian Bliss of the University of Delaware men's basketball team swept the Conference USA weekly honors, the league announced Monday.
Fernandez earned Player of the Week and Bliss was named Freshman of the Week. These are the first weekly awards the team has earned since joining CUSA.
Fernandez receives his first CUSA weekly honors after tallying 44 points, nine rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals on the week. In Delaware's win over George Washington, he recorded a career-high 27 points, with 20 of them coming in the first half. He shot 5-of-7 from beyond the arc and tied his career-high of five three pointers made for the second time this season. Fernandez also tied his career-high seven rebounds. Against CSUN, he put up 17 points for his sixth double-digit scoring game of the seventh he has played in.Â
Bliss earns his first CUSA weekly award after putting up 33 points, 14 rebounds, 13 assists, three steals, and two blocks last week. He neared a triple-double for the second time this season against GW with 12 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists. Bliss recorded a career-high 21 points, including a career-high five made 3-pointers, against CSUN.
