WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – University of Delaware men's basketball couldn't withstand Monmouth Saturday afternoon in the Garden State, falling 92-83. The Blue Hens drop to 11-12 overall, 4-6 CAA, while the Hawks jump to 7-16, 5-5 CAA.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

John Camden led all Hens with 20 points. He also swiped three steals which tie his career mark.
Cavan Reilly tallied 19 points on an 8-of-15 afternoon.
Erik Timko tallied his first career double-double with 16 points and a career-high 10 rebounds.
Trent Middleton Jr. finished with 11 points and a career-best nine rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Monmouth started the game making its first six baskets heading into the first media stoppage with a 13-9 lead. The home team pulled ahead by as many as 10, however the UD trimmed it to 39-36 at the under-four timeout with 2:01 left and a pair at the stripe following the break. The Hens took the lead with a Timko dunk near the end of the half, however a last possession triple sent Monmouth into the locker room up 44-42.
The Hawks held steady through the first 8:14 of the second with a 66-61 lead at the under-12 timeout. Delaware pulled ahead 77-76 at the 4:56 mark, but a 5-0 Monmouth run put the Hawks back up 81-77 at the final media stoppage. At that point, the deficit was too much for the Hens to overcome.

GAME NOTES

Kevin Kogbara made his first career start.
Niels Lane missed the game with a hip injury and is considered day-to-day.
UD moves to 0-9 when trailing at the half this season.
