NEWARK, Del. – Two late fourth-quarter goals allowed the University of Delaware women's lacrosse team (1-0) to stave off Temple (0-1) in the season opener at Delaware Stadium on Friday.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

The Blue Hens took 28 shots with 24 on cage.
UD won the turnover margin (+10) and held the advantage in draw controls 14-12.
Delaney McDaniel tallied a game-high four points on a pair of goals and assists.
Jaclyn Marszal picked up where she left off last season with a score and two helpers.
Rookie Maggie Craytor tallied a hat trick in her first career game.
Morgan Gore (2G), Sam Paradise (2A), and Ella Rishko (2G) all finished with two points.
Paradise corralled a team-best nine draw controls.
Kiki Grant (1A), Callie Drab (1G), and Halen Saroney (1G) all recorded a point.
Erin Gormley caused four turnovers and scooped up four ground balls, while Maddy Mobilia had three and one, respectively.
Steph Marszal (1-0) secured the victory five six saves, including five in the final stanza.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After the Owls scored the first two goals of the game, UD ended the first frame with two-unanswered scores to knot the game at two apiece.
The Hens outpaced their opposition 5-3 in the second, including a stretch of four straight to head into the half up 7-5.
The Blue & Gold extended the margin to 10-7 with a 3-2 advantage in the third period.
TU battled back to tie the game at 10 apiece with 12:16 left in the game before the eventual game-winning goal from Craytor and an insurance score by J. Marszal.
