Baseball Splits Saturday Doubleheader Against Siena

NEWARK, Del. - The University of Delaware baseball team closed out its series against Sienna splitting a doubleheader on Saturday at Bob Hannah Stadium.

Delaware won the first game by a score of 12-2 in seven innings and lost its second game 10-4Â for game two.

The Blue Hens overall record is now 9-9.

GAME ONE
HEN HIGHLIGHTSÂ
- Ryan McLaughlin started on the mound for the Blue Hens. He pitched in three innings, allowed three hits, two earned runs and struck out five batters. Carter Welch and Jake Pollaro came in relief. The two didn't allow any hits, and struck out a combined six batters. McLaughlin was credited with the win and is now 1-2.
- Aaron Graeber and Aiden Stewart led the way offensively. The two each had three hits, Graeber drove in one run and Stewart drove in two.
- Other Blue Hens with multiple hits were: Brett Lesher (2-for-3, 2 2B, RBI, BB), Matthew Minckler (2-for-3, 3B, 3 RBIs) and Jackson Tyer (2-for-3, 3 RBI)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After giving up two earned runs and three hits in the first inning, the pitching trio didn't allow any hits or runs.Â
- The Blue Hens scored eight of its two runs in the second and third innings. Stewart started the rally with an RBI double, Minckler, Tyer, Rory Finn, and Lesher all drove in runs during the two innings.
- After Minckler, Graeber and Stewart drove in runs in the fifth and sixth innings, Evan Bouldin ended the game with an RBI single, making the game 12-2Â
