Strong Pitching Leads to 2-1 Victory Over Elon for Baseball

ELON, N.C. – An exciting ninth inning leads to a 2-1 win for the University of Delaware baseball team over Coastal Athletic Association foe Elon on Saturday.
With the win, the Blue Hens overall record is 14-11 and are now 3-2 in conference play.

The rubber match of the weekend series at Elon was slated to start at 1 p.m. it will now start at noon tomorrow.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Tim Hartman, Ethan Shaub and Dom Velazquez all had strong performances on the mound. The three pitchers gave up just one earned run off seven hits and struck out seven batters through nine innings. Velazquez was credited with the win, who pitched the final 3.1 innings, didn't allow any hits and struck out four batters. He is now 1-2 on the season.
- Offensively, the Blue Hens were led by Aiden Stewart, who had one hit and one RBI.
- The Blue Hens took the lead in the top of the sixth inning with a Stewart RBI single, scoring Aaron Graeber.
- Elon tied the game with an RBI double in the sixth.
- In the ninth, LT Cockrill scored off an Elon wild pitch to give the Blue Hens the go-ahead run.
