Men’s Basketball Survives Stony Brook; Will Take on Fifth-Seeded Campbell on Saturday

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Twelfth-seeded University of Delaware men's basketball (13-19) survived 13th-seeded Stony Brook (8-24) Friday afternoon, 80-76, to advance to the 2025 Jersey Mike's CAA Men's Basketball Championship Second Round on Saturday to take on fifth-seeded Campbell at 2:30 p.m.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Delaware shot 55.8 percent overall, 34.8 percent from three-point range, and 82.4 percent from the line.
- UD won the turnover battle (+4) and capitalized with 14 points off the Seawolves' 11 turnovers.
- Erik Timko returned to form and led the Hens with 19 points. He connected on 4-of-8 from long range and snagged a team-best five rebounds.
- Niels Lane finished with 16 points on a 7-of-10 outing. He added four rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks to his stat line.
- Rookie of the Year Izaiah Pasha accounted for 15 points, Cavan Reilly for 13, and John Camden for 11.
- Delaware scored the first six points of the game on three field goals before the Seawolves found the bottom of the net. The Hens went up 9-3 for their largest lead to that point before an 18-16 score at the under-12 timeout. UD used an 18-8 run over 5:41 to push the score to 48-32 at the 1:01 mark. Each team tallied a bucket to end the half 50-34 in favor of the Hens.
- Stony Brook used a 17-9 margin over the initial 4:36 to cut the deficit to 59-51 when Martin Ingelsby called timeout with 15:24 on the clock. The Seawolves continued to fight back and tied the game at 70 apiece with 3:11 left. The Blue & Gold never surrendered the lead the rest of the way.
- Delaware moves to 13-4 when leading at the half this season.
- UD has scored 50 points in the opening half of the past two CAA Championship Tournaments (51 vs Hampton on March 9, 2024).
Delaware will take on fifth-seeded Campbell on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
