NEWARK, Del. – For the second time in three weeks, University of Delaware women's golfer Mary Grace Dunigan has been named the CAA Women's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday. The award is the fourth of the season for the Blue Hens and recognizes Dunigan's performance at the inaugural More Than Golf Invitational in Aiken, South Carolina last weekend.
Dunigan recorded her second-consecutive individual runner-up finish as she concluded the three-day tournament at 4-under par. She carded six birdies during Friday's opening round as she held the tournament's 18-hole lead after posting a season-best 4-under par 69. The sophomore finished with 12 total birdies over the 54 holes as she turned in even-par rounds on Saturday and Sunday. It was Dunigan's team-leading third top-10 finish of the season.
It is the third career weekly honor for Dunigan as she was also named the CAA Women's Golfer of the Week on March 19 after tying for second at the Red Rocks Invitational. She also earned the award last season as a freshman while at William & Mary.
Delaware turned in a team score of 18-over par 894 to finish second at the More Than Golf Invitational behind only No. 36 Georgia Southern. The Blue Hens were third after each of the first two days before carding 15 birdies on Sunday to move into second. Overall, UD posted 53 birdies over the three rounds
UP NEXT
The Blue Hens will close out the regular season next weekend when they make the short trip to College Park, Maryland for the Maryland Terps Invite. Play will be held April 6-7 at the University of Maryland Golf Course.
