RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Delaware men's lacrosse had five student-athletes earn Postseason All-CAA honors, the league announced Wednesday. Brendan Powers and OJ Morris were named All-CAA First Team, while Nick Cowen earned an All-CAA Second Team spot. Freshmen Bennett Parmer and Liam Powell found themselves on the All-Rookie team.
Powers led the team in goals (37) and points (53), while finishing second on the team in assists (17), all new career-bests. While starting all 13 games for the Blue Hens at attack, the Skaneateles, N.Y. native was named CAA Offensive Player of the Week three times and twice a member of the USILA DI Team of the Week. He tallied six hat-tricks on the campaign, finishing second in the conference in goals per game (2.85) and points per game (4.08).
Morris, who was one of three players in the CAA named a Midseason All-American by Inside Lacrosse, was dominant as UD's number one faceoff option. The Dublin, Ohio native finished second in the country and first in the CAA in faceoff percentage (.686), while ranking third in the conference in ground balls per game (5.23).
Cowen, a first-time starter on defense for the Hens, led the team in caused turnovers with 19. The Franklin Square, N.Y. native's 1.46 caused turnovers per game were good enough for third place in the CAA. The long pole also notched his first-career goal against Hofstra.
Parmer made an instant impact as a rookie, being named CAA Offensive Player of the Week after his first collegiate game at #18/19/18 Utah. The freshman attackman scored four goals, including the game-winner with under a minute to play in UD's 13-12 season-opening upset victory. The Lancaster, Pa. native started all 13 games for the Hens, leading the team in assists with 17, while finishing second in points (33) and tied for third in goals (16).
Powell was a part of a defensive trio with Cowen and Louie Atkinson that started all 13 games for the Blue Hens. The Monkton, Md. native finished second on the team in caused turnovers (17) and fifth in the CAA in caused turnovers per game (1.31).
