Siekanowicz Named CAA Rookie of the Year, Four Blue Hens Named to All-CAA Teams

RICHMOND, Va. - University of Delaware men's tennis freshman, Piotr Siekanowicz, has been awarded CAA Rookie of the Year, the league announced Friday. Â
Siekanowicz also has been elected to the All-CAA First Team Singles and All-CAA First Team Doubles with partner Euan Mackenzie. Senior Karol Malirz also joins the postseason accolades, as he was awarded a spot on the All-CAA Second Team Singles and All-CAA Third Team Doubles with partner Mason Robins.Â
Siekanowicz earned his Rookie of the Year and All-CAA First Team Singles accolades after posting a 12-12 overall singles record and 14-11 overall doubles record during his first year of collegiate play. In the fall, Siekanowicz earned an invitation to compete at ITA East Sectional Championships after dominating at the ITA Northeast Regional competition. Additionally, he passed through the qualifying draw at the M15 Ann Arbor, as well as both the qualifying draw and first round main draw at M15 Tallahassee, which earned him his third ATP Point. Â
As a team, Siekanowicz & Mackenzie posted a 13-8 overall doubles record with 9-6 in dual play from the No. 1 spot. The pair was a heavy contributor to the team's .714 win percentage in dual matches.Â
Malirz earned an overall record of 16-13 in singles with 12-9 occurring during dual play. He competed six matches from the No. 1 singles spot and 15 matches from the No. 2 singles spot.Â
Joined by Robins for the majority of dual season, the pair collected an impressive record of 9-1 from the No. 2 doubles spot. As the season came to a close, the two had a winning-streak of five, including a clinching point win against No. 69 UNCW during the CAA Men's Tennis Championship Semifinals.Â
