NEWARK, Del. - University of Delaware volleyball has announced its schedule for the 2025 season, marking the program's first year in Conference USA. Â
Delaware opens the season in the K-State Invitational, facing UMBC on August 30 and Kansas State on August 31. The Blue Hens will then return to Newark to host the Blue Hen Invitational, beginning with the home opener against Virginia Tech on Sept. 5, followed by matches against Hampton on Sept. 6 and Le Moyne on Sept. 7. The game against Virginia Tech will be UD's first against the Hokies since the two programs matched up in the NCAA Tournament in 2010.Â
The Blue Hens are back on the road at the Old Dominion Invitational on Sept. 12 and 13 against Old Dominion and Villanova. Delaware will close out non-conference play at home in the Delaware Invitational, taking on Penn and Saint Peter's.
UD's first CUSA season starts on Sept. 26 and 27 at home against New Mexico State. The Blue Hens hit the road to face LA Tech on October 3–4, then return home to host Middle Tennessee on October 10 and 11. Delaware will have back-to-back road weekends on Oct. 17 and 18 against FIU and Oct. 24 and 25 against Kennesaw State. It will host Liberty on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.Â
On Nov. 7 and 8, Delaware heads to WKU to face the six-time defending regular season champion Hilltoppers. The regular season finale comes on Nov. 14 and 15 against Sam Houston. The CUSA Tournament is set to begin on Nov. 21 in Miami.Â
Delaware has previously played a total of 18 games against current CUSA opponents, most commonly Liberty at 10 games - most recently in 2009. The Blue Hens have also played WKU four times, last in 2012, Sam Houston twice, last in 2010, FIU once, last in 2018, and Missouri State, who is not scheduled to play Delaware in the regular season, once in 2009.Â
Delaware finished the 2024 season with a .741 winning percentage, the sixth best in program history, and set a program record for consecutive sets won at 18. It is the fourth time Delaware recorded at least a .700 winning percentage in back-to-back seasons in program history (also done from 2009-2010, 2006-2007, and 1976-1977). The Blue Hens won at least 20 games in a season for the second-straight year. It is the first time Delaware has won at least 20 matches in two-straight years since doing so in three straight seasons from 2009-2011. UD made the CAA Conference Championship Game in its final three years as a member of the conference.Â
Single-game tickets for volleyball will start at $12 for adults and $10 for children (3-12). Season ticket packages will also be available at 50% off the single-game adult rate. There will also be group rate incentives, and additional gameday experience opportunities. Tickets can be purchased here.Â
