Volleyball Earns AVCA Team Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Delaware volleyball earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award, announced on Monday by the AVCA.
Initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, the award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that display excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average during the 2024-25 year.
The Blue Hens posted a cumulative GPA of 3.54 to receive the distinction for the second consecutive year and and fifth all-time. Savannah Seemans and Emily Chrysolgelos posted a 4.0 GPA in the fall and spring semester, while Mackenzie Sobczyk and Lily Rogers posted 4.0 GPAs in the fall and Kristyn Membreno had a 4.0 GPA in the spring. UD also earned the AVCA Team Academic Award in 2024, 2018, 2015, and 2012.
Delaware finished the 2024 season with a .741 winning percentage, the sixth best in program history. It is the fourth time Delaware recorded at least a .700 winning percentage in back-to-back seasons in program history (also done from 2009-2010, 2006-2007, and 1976-1977). The Blue Hens won at least 20 games in a season for the second-straight year. It is the first time Delaware has won at least 20 matches in two-straight years since doing so in three straight seasons from 2009-2011. Delaware will compete as a member of Conference USA starting in the fall.Â
