DALLAS – Freshman goalkeeper Sophia Hall was named the Conference USA Goalkeeper of the Week; the organization announced on Tuesday.
Hall is the second UD athlete to receive a weekly player of the week award from Conference USA. Maggie Groh was named offensive player of the week last week after scoring three goals and recording two assists.
Hall played a big role for the Fightin' Blue Hens two defensive shutouts last weekend. She started in both games and played all 180 minutes. She collected eight saves on the weekend, five at George Mason and three at Navy.
Hall became the first freshman goalkeeper to record a shutout since Odaliana Gomez in 2022.
She is one of two freshmen in the country to record back-to-back shutouts this past weekend. She is also one of six freshmen in the country to record multiple shutouts this season.
The Blue Hens 4-0 start of the season is the best under third year Head Coach Kelly Lawrence and since 2006.
