DALLAS – University of Delaware men's golf junior Arsit Areephun as been named the Conference USA (CUSA) Co-Men's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday. It is Delaware's first weekly award of the season and its first as a member of CUSA.
It is the third weekly award of Areephun's career as he was twice named the CAA Men's Golfer of the Week during his freshman season.
Areephun won his first individual title on Tuesday, claiming medalist honors at the Blue Hen Intercollegiate, held at White Clay Creek Country Club. He led UD to a convincing 29-stroke team victory as he finished the 54-hole tournament with a score of 7-under par (209) to win by three strokes. Areephun opened the tournament with rounds of 68 (-4) and 69 (-3) on Monday to sit in the lead at 7-under par after 36 holes. He had six birdies over the first 18 holes, including four-consecutive holes, and finished with 13 total birdies for the tournament. The junior carded an even-par 72 on Tuesday to clinch his first victory.
He became the first Delaware men's golfer to win a tournament since Roberto Nieves won the Wildcat Fall Invitational during the 2020-21 season. Areephun has top-10 finishes in both tournaments this year, marking 10 total for his career.
