Field Hockey's Merashoff and Michielsen Win MPSF Weekly Awards

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - University of Delaware field hockey earned both MPSF Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week for the third consecutive week, the conference announced Tuesday.Â
Alexa Michielsen picked up the nod on offense, while netminder Kristi Merashoff earned the defensive honor.
Michielsen received her second conference laurel of the young season after tallying four points on a goal and two assists in a 4-0 win over Lock Haven. The four points in the contest tied her career-high, set a season ago.
Across Delaware's two contests against No. 1 Northwestern and Lock Haven, Merashoff thwarted 13 shots, including a career-high of 10 against Northwestern. The graduate student picked up her second career shutout in the Fightin' Blue Hens' 4-0 blanking of Lock Haven, where she stopped three more shots.

The Blue Hens travel north to face defending NCAA runners-up No. 15 Saint Joseph's on Wednesday, September 24, at 4 p.m.
