Men's Swimming & Diving's Namakonov and Siegfried Win ASUN Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - University of Delaware men's swimming & diving seniors Matvei Namakonov and Kevin Siegfried earned Atlantic Sun Men's Swimmer and Men's Diver of the Week, respectively, for the week of January 20, the conference announced Tuesday.
The two student-athletes earn the nod after helping their squad to a 201-99 victory over George Mason in their final home dual meet of their career.
Namakonov finished first in all four events he competed in during his final home dual meet of his career in a win over George Mason. He started off the day swimming the breaststroke portion of the 200-medley relay, finishing with a 21.70 split. The senior returned to the pool to swim the 50-free, doing so at 19.89. In the first men's event after the mid-meet break, he set a pool record in the 100-free, swimming it at 43.64. During the final event of the meet, Namakonov led the 400-free relay, swimming the first 100 yards in 42.97.
Siegfried won the 1-meter dive event and placed second in the 3-meter dive event in Delaware's drubbing over George Mason in his final-career home dual meet. Siegfried scored 289.20 in the 1-meter dive, finishing 31.20 points ahead of the next highest scorer. In the 3-meter dive, the final event of the day, Siegfried again reached the 280.00 mark, scoring a 284.18, placing second in the event. Both scores were season highs for the senior.

The Blue Hens' next meet is the ASUN Championships, in Orlando, Fla., from February 18-21. This will be the squad's first time competing in the championship for its new league.
