Softball Evens Series With Missouri State With 3-2 Victory

- Chapman and Costaro each homered.Â
- Sydney Shaffer had an RBI double.Â
- Allie Nankivell went 1-for-2 with a walk, a run scored, and a stolen base.Â
- Kristen Luzon and Gianna Costaro both went 1-for-3.Â
- Caylin Blazys went 1-for-2.Â
- Karli Challburg earned the win by pitching 4.2 innings and allowing just two hits, one earned run, two walks, and struck out three.Â
- Josie Crossman earned the save by recording the final eight outs and allowing just two hits.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Missouri State scored a two-out run in the first inning.Â
- In the bottom half, Nankivell reached on a bunt single, stole second, and scored on an RBI single from Shaffer.Â
- Challburg pitched a hitless second inning and went 1-2-3 in the third and fourth innings.Â
- Chapman gave UD the lead with a two-strike solo home run with one out in the fourth, then Diamond followed with a solo home run to put Delaware ahead 3-1.Â
- Missouri State scored an unearned run with two outs in the fifth, but Crossman entered with runners on second and third and induced a groundball to retire the side.Â
- Crossman allowed a leadoff single in the sixth, but nabbed the runner at second base on a sacrifice bunt attempt to help UD through the inning.Â
- The Bears had a two-out single in the seventh to put the tying run on base, but Crossman got the final out on a strikeout to end the game.Â
GAME NOTES
- Delaware improved to 4-4 in one-run games.Â
- This was the second time this season Delaware has hit back-to-back home runs. Both instances have involved Chapman as she went back-to-back with Sorella Gallucci on March 1 against Le Moyne.Â
- This was the seventh multi-home run game by Delaware this season.Â
- UD has 15 home runs over its last 14 games dating back to Feb. 28.Â
- Chapman's home run was the second of her career.Â
- Diamond's home run was the sixth of her career and her first solo shot.Â
- Diamond moved into a tie with Brittney Mendoza (2019) and Michelle Grap (2008) for fifth-most home runs by a freshman in a season in program history.Â
- Since Feb. 21, Nankivell is hitting .536/.618/.536 in 12 games.Â
- Shaffer recorded her 123rd RBIÂ of her career, passing Brooke Glanden for fourth all-time in program history.Â
- Crossman's save was the first of her career and first by a Delaware pitcher since Bille Kerwood during the CAA Tournament last season against Hofstra on May 9.Â

Softball season ticket deposits are available now. Season ticket packages and individual game tickets will go on sale later this winter.
Individual ticket prices will be $10 per game and $5 for youth (ages 3-12). Season ticket packages will be available at 50 percent off the single-game rate. There will also be group rates, incentives, and additional gameday experience opportunities. All seating will be general admission at Delaware Softball Diamond.
UD students will continue to receive free tickets to all home softball games.
