BOSTON – University of Delaware ice hockey graduate student Kaitlin Finnegan has been selected as the recipient of the Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) Individual Sportsmanship Award for the 2025-26 season. The award was voted on by the league's head coaches and assistant coaches. Additionally, Delaware was the co-recipient of the Team Sportsmanship Award.
Finnegan led the Fightin' Blue Hens in their inaugural season, finishing with a team-leading 13 points on a team-high eight goals and five assists. A key player in all situations, Finnegan had two power play goals and scored UD's lone shorthanded tally of the season. She also finished second on the team with 68 blocked shots, which currently ranks in the top 20 in the country and second nationally among forwards. The co-captain played in 30 games and received just two minor penalties.
Delaware and Mercyhurst were named co-recipients of the Team Sportsmanship Award as both programs finished with a conference-low 180 penalty minutes in league play.
The Blue Hens wrapped up their inaugural season in the first round of the AHA Championship, falling in overtime to Robert Morris. Delaware recorded the first win in program history with a 2-1 victory over Holy Cross on October 5, a program that spent time in the national rankings, and picked up its first AHA win with a 5-3 decision over Lindenwood on November 14.
