DALLAS – University of Delaware women's basketball's Ella Wanzer was named to the Conference USA Women's Basketball All-Academic Team, the league announced Thursday. Wanzer is the first Fightin' Blue Hen to earn a conference all-academic selection since Hannah Jardine in 2016-17.
The Buffalo, N.Y. native is one of five players in the conference to earn the honor this season, being joined by Denika Lightbourne (FIU), Emmy Stout (Liberty), Paris Bradley (LA Tech), and Fanta Kone (Sam Houston).
Wanzer, a graduate fashion and apparel studies major with a 4.0 cumulative GPA, has averaged 8.4 points per game across 25 starts this season. Her season was highlighted by reaching the 1,000-point milestone on December 20th against Akron, delivering a standout performance with 25 points while going 7-for-10 from beyond the arc, tying for the second-most threes made in a single game in program history.
The Hens will travel to Liberty to round out the regular season on Friday, March 6 at 7 p.m. The game will air on ESPN+.
