Schievert Records Four Hits as Softball Defeats FIU, 5-4

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware softball's Katie Schievert had four hits in a win over Florida International on Saturday afternoon at Delaware Softball Diamond. With the win, the Fightin' Blue Hens rise to 11-11 overall and 2-0 in CUSA play, while the Panthers drop to 18-4 and 0-2 in league action.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Schievert recorded her second four-hit game of the campaign, including the game-winning double.
Sydney Shaffer recorded two walks, including her 94th-career free pass to set the program record for the most in a career.
Gracie Jacobs tallied the first multi-hit game of her career, notching a single and an RBI double.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After two shutout innings from Karli Challburg, Gracie Jacobs took advantage of a bloop into right field, to get the Hens on the board.
Schievert laced a single through the left side, which was followed by a fielder's choice off the bat of Maddie Diamond, bringing the lead to 3-0 Delaware after two innings.
The Panthers picked up four unanswered, two runs scoring in the third and fifth innings.
In the bottom of the fifth, after saving a run on a diving catch at first base, Gianna Costaro grounded one up the middle to tie things up at four.
In the final batting frame for Delaware, Schievert recorded her fourth hit of the day down the left field line to give the Hens the lead 5-4.

GAME NOTE

Delaware recorded at least 10 hits for the fourth-consecutive game, and the ninth time this season.

UP NEXT
The two teams will conclude their three-game series on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

TICKETS
Softball season ticket deposits are available now. Season ticket packages and individual game tickets will go on sale later this winter.

Individual ticket prices will be $10 per game and $5 for youth (ages 3-12). Season ticket packages will be available at 50 percent off the single game rate. There will also be group rate, incentives, and additional gameday experience opportunities. All seating will be general admission at Delaware Softball Diamond.

UD students will continue to receive free tickets to all home softball games.
