Jaclyn Marszal’s Eight Points Leads Women’s Lacrosse Past Saint Joseph’s 13-12

NEWARK, Del. – Jaclyn Marszal led the way with four goals and four assists to propel the University of Delaware women's lacrosse team to a 13-12 victory over Saint Joseph's in a non-conference game on Thursday afternoon at Delaware Stadium. With the win, the Fightin' Blue Hens have now won seven-straight games and improve to 8-4 overall, while the Hawks fall to 5-7 on the season.

HENS HIGHLIGHTS
- J. Marszal tied her season highs in goals and points, matching her eight-point performance against Lindenwood (March 21).
- Sophia Muscolino finished with five points as she had a hat trick and dished out two assists.
- Morgan Gore registered her fifth hat trick of the season and Callie Drab also had two goals.
- Mary Matey had a career-high three caused turnovers and tied a personal best with five draw controls.
- Ella Rishko also had five draw controls and three caused turnovers, and Molly Baumgratz finished with four draw controls.
- Steph Marszal made one save in goal to earn her eighth win of the season.
- Delaware held a 17-10 advantage in draw controls and forced 20 Hawks' turnovers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game was back-and-forth from the beginning as the teams were tied after the first quarter. Muscolino scored UD's first two goals before Gore tied the game 3-3 with a woman-up goal in the final minute.
- Gore and J. Marszal both scored in the second quarter, but the Hawks went into halftime with a 3-2 lead.
- J. Marszal tallied her second and third goals of the game early in the third quarter, sandwiched around a Saint Joseph's goal to even the score at 7-7.
- Gore completed her hat trick and Drab scored on a free-position attempt to put UD up 9-8 at the end of three quarters.
- The teams went back-and-forth in the fourth quarter as J. Marszal and McKenzie Didio scored to keep UD up one, 11-10.
- Muscolino and Drab tallied consecutive goals from the 8-meter to extend Delaware's lead to 13-10 with 3:47 left.
- Saint Joseph's scored twice to pull within one, but the Blue Hens maintained possession for the final 1:54 to seal the win.
GAME NOTES
- Delaware improved its winning streak to seven-consecutive games, the program's longest streak since opening the 2000 season with seven-straight wins.
- The Blue Hens have scored at least 13 goals in seven-straight games, the longest streak by a UD team since 2000.
