4/30/2026 7:41:00 PM | Softball
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Diamond went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, a walk, and two runs scored.Â
- Caylin Blazys went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a stolen base.Â
- Sorella Gallucci walked twice and scored a run. Â
- Allie Nankivell had a hit, a run scored, and a stolen base. Â
- Josie Crossman earned the win by allowing just one run on two hits in 4.1 innings pitched.Â
- Claire Woods earned an eight-out save and struck out two.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Crossman pitched three no-hit innings to start the night, facing just one over the minimum.Â
- Delaware jumped on WKU pitcher Erica Houge, who entered the night with a CUSA-leading 2.00 ERA, early with three runs in the first inning. Nankivell had a leadoff single, Shaffer was hit by a pitch, and Diamond walked to load the bases. Gallucci then walked to bring home the first run, and Blazys singled to right to score Shaffer and Diamond.Â
- Diamond homered with two outs in the third to put UD up 4-0.Â
- Crossman gave up her first hit in the fourth, but a strikeout ended the top half of the frame.Â
- WKU scored its first run in the fifth, and with a runner on second and one out, Woods entered and retired the final two hitters of the inning with a strikeout and groundout.Â
- Woods pitched a 1-2-3 sixth inning. Delaware tacked on two runs in the bottom half. Gallucci and Blazys both reached on errors, then Blazys stole second and Gallucci scored on a throwing error. Ellie Mulligan then hit a sacrifice fly to make the score 6-1.Â
- WKU had four straight hitters reach base - a walk and three hits - before Woods retired the final two hitters to seal the win.Â
GAME NOTES
- Diamond hit her 15th home run of the season, tied with Sydney Shaffer (2026), Anna Steinmetz (2016), and Mariah Kondravy (2025) for the second-most home runs in a single season in program history. She also tied the freshman record set by Steinmetz and Kondravy.Â
- Diamond has homered in five of her last eight games and is on a career-long eight-game hitting streak. Â
- Gallucci recorded her ninth multi-walk game of the season.Â
- Blazys has driven in multiple first-inning runs in two of her last three games.Â
- Delaware was hit by a pitch for the 42nd time this season after Katie Scheivert was plunked in the fifth. The 42 hit by pitches broke the single-season program record set in 2012.Â
- Delaware has now won 11-straight home games, it's longest streak since 2024 and its second longest streak in program history.Â
- Delaware has won 20 home games this year for the second time in program history and first time since winning a program record 21 in 2000. Â
- Scheivert, Shaffer, and Luzon earned their 135th win together, tying Chloe Blantz and Graceyn Frost for most wins by a senior class in program history.Â
