NEWARK, Del. – The 2026-27 University of Delaware ice hockey schedule has been unveiled, head coach Allison Coomey announced Wednesday. The Fightin' Blue Hens will play 34 games in their second season, including 15 contests at Fred Rust Ice Arena.
Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) previously announced Delaware's 24-game conference schedule as the Blue Hens will play all six opponents four times in home-and-home two-game weekend series. The Blue & Gold will play 10 additional non-conference contests against five opponents.
The full 2026-27 schedule can be seen here.
Delaware will open the campaign on the road, traveling north to Massachusetts for a pair of games at Holy Cross (Sept. 25-26). The Blue Hens hosted the Crusaders in Newark last season, recording the program's first-ever win on October 5. Meera Smith and Katelynn Charlton both scored goals and Charlotte Payne made 49 saves to lead UD to a 2-1 victory.
Following a home-opening conference series against Lindenwood (Oct. 3-4) as part of Delaware's Parents & Family Weekend, and a trip to RIT (Oct. 9-10), the Hens will host Union (Oct. 16-17) for a weekend series at Fred Rust.
October will close out with a pair of road trips to LIU (Oct. 23-24) and Syracuse (Oct. 29-30). Delaware hosted LIU for its inaugural games last season in Newark, dropping a pair of tight contests.
The Blue Hens will open November with consecutive AHA home series against Mercyhurst (Nov. 6-7) and Robert Morris (Nov. 12-13). Delaware will then play five-straight contests away beginning with a weekend at Penn State (Nov. 19-20). The squad will make a midweek trip to Princeton (Nov. 24) before continuing north for a non-conference series at Stonehill (Nov. 27-28). It will be the program's first-ever matchups against both the Tigers and Skyhawks.
The first semester will wrap up with UD's lone December games as the Blue Hens host RIT (Dec. 4-5) at Fred Rust.
The Blue & Gold will welcome in 2027 with a midweek contest as Princeton (Jan. 5) visits Newark for the first time.
The regular season's final five weekends will feature weekend series against AHA opponents as Delaware will travel to Lindenwood (Jan. 8-9), Robert Morris (Jan. 22-23) and Mercyhurst (Feb. 5-6), while hosting Syracuse (Jan. 15-16) and Penn State (Jan. 29-30) in The First State.
The AHA postseason will begin on Thursday, February 18 with a first-round game between the No. 6 and No. 7 seeds. The quarterfinals will be played on Saturday, February 20 at the sites of the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds. The semifinals will feature a best-of-three series the weekend of February 26-28 at the sites of the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds, and the AHA championship game will be held on March 6 at the highest-seeded semifinal winner. The AHA Champion will claim the conference's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Tournament.
