Stephanie Hussey joined the Blue Hens as an assistant coach in February 2022.Â
Hussey arrives in Newark after three seasons (2019-21) as the assistant coach at Davidson College. While at Davidson, she created and implemented individual athlete development plans, led film analysis sessions, including one-on-one instructive meetings to develop athletes. Hussey also served as the recruiting coordinator and coordinated camps and clinics.
Before her stint at Davidson, Hussey was an assistant at UC Davis from 2016-18. She led and oversaw key field hockey development items for the team. Hussey was also a key partner in the recruitment processes and program operations. She coordinated fundraising activities, camps, clinics, and 7v7 Tournaments. Hussey also monitored the academic progress of student-athletes, managed academic needs, communicated with Academic Support Services, received progress reports, and provided direction and guidance when necessary.
Hussey has also coached with Club Deportivo Terrassa in Barcelona, Spain, and USA Field Hockey's U18 Futures program in Florida. While with USA Field Hockey, she performed as the Regional Site Selector for the 2017-2018 season, managed the Cal Cup event in partnership with Moorpark, and created and analyzed college coaches' database as well as a nationwide FH club database.
A native of Argentina, she moved to Miami as a teenager and played for the U16 and U19 U.S. National Teams. She then played collegiately at Syracuse and Penn State. In two years at Syracuse, she helped the Orange win the Big East tournament and regular-season titles and reach the NCAA Final Four in 2012. At Penn State, she scored a career-high six goals as a senior.
